Best Republican Keynote Ever (At a Dem Convention)

I actually watched San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro's speech last night, and was struck by how Republican it sounded, with many references to God, self-reliance, and other traditional GOP themes. I even remarked to my wife, "Gee, it sounds like he should sit down for a heart-to-heart with Susana Martinez." Martinez is, of course, the Republican governor of New Mexico who recalled in her convention speech a meeting with Republican party officials when she was a registered Democrat, after which she remarked to her husband, "I'll be damned, we're Republicans."

The other thing that jumped out at me was the number of times Mr. Castro said things that sounded very much like statements made by Marco Rubio, Ms. Martinez and Paul Ryan the week before. It was almost as if the Dems focus-grouped the Republican speeches and cherry-picked the points that got the best response. But, being Democrats, they wouldn't so blatantly plagiarize Republican ideas, would they?

Well, would they?
