What If The Doctors "Go Galt"?

Drudge has a banner headline today, "83% OF DOCTORS 'HAVE CONSIDERED QUITTING' OVER OBAMACARE" that links to this article. Go read it now; I'll wait.

Welcome back. Doesn't that paint a pretty picture? What if even a quarter of the physicians who have considered quitting actually do so. What do you think would happen to health care in this country if one of five doctors suddenly retired?

And consider this:
“Doctors clearly understand what Washington does not — that a piece of paper that says you are ‘covered’ by insurance or ‘enrolled’ in Medicare or Medicaid does not translate to actual medical care when doctors can’t afford to see patients at the lowball payments, and patients have to jump through government and insurance company bureaucratic hoops,”
said Kathryn Serkes, co-founder of the organization that conducted the poll.

In light of the economics alluded to in that quote, in the foreseeable future what do you suppose might happen to the number of applicants to med schools? And what do you suppose will happen to the academic qualifications of those applicants?

Think about it, and then answer this question for yourself: all in all, can we afford Obamacare?
