Gestapo Tactics
This sort of thing is right out of a WWII-era movie about the Nazis.
I agree with Glenn Reynolds that police should be strictly liable for damage and injuries they cause in the course of these raids. There are only a few kinds of cases in which these tactics are justified. The rest of the time I think it's just macho cops trying to imitate TV, and the police action violates the Fourth Amendment proscription against unreasonable searches and seizures. I say this as a guy who generally sides with law enforcement.
