Point of No Return

This piece says, very eloquently, that Obama's jumped the shark.

Survey Says ....

It's all over the news today that nearly one in five Americans think Pres. Obama is a Muslim, and another 43% don't know what religion Obama professes.

Count me in the latter category. I'm not at all sure that Rev. Wright's church is actually Christian, irrespective of what it's called--too much hate and racism; and Obama doesn't go there anymore. Apparently the Obamas don't attend church regularly, at least not since he took up residence in the White House, so there's not much of a clue there. I'm absolutely certain Mr. O is not Catholic.

That said, what if Obama were some kind of crypto-Muslim? How would he behave differently?

Ground Zero Mosque

I think the Constitution gives the folks who want to build the mosque a block from Ground Zero the right to do so, subject to the same local zoning and other restrictions that would apply to other houses of worship.

I think that to actually build the mosque would be a perpetual irritation to the majority of people in the US, who believe that to build it there is inappropriate and an affront to those who died in the 9/11 attacks. Instead of bridging the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims in the US, it would widen and deepen the gap, and would be a detriment to harmony between Muslims and non-Muslims in this country. Most people on both sides of the issue would (correctly, in my view) immediately or eventually see the facility as a victory monument to the Islamist "martyrs" who carried out the attack.

"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."
