Quo Vadis Obama Revisited
At this moment in time, I am not prepared to say that President Obama's economic policies are the manifestation of a conscious plan to cause economic chaos in the United States to the end that the people will accede to, if not clamor for, a huge increase in the size and power of the federal government in order to restore order and relative prosperity.A year into the Obama administration, I have rethought that statement.
That said, if Mr. Obama did have such a plan, I doubt we'd be seeing much different from what we're now experiencing.
I now believe that it is more likely than not that President Obama's economic policies are the manifestation of a conscious plan to cause economic chaos in the United States to the end that the people will accede to, if not clamor for, a huge increase in the size and power of the federal government in order to restore order and relative prosperity.
That said, if Mr. Obama did not have such a plan, one would be hard pressed to find a plausible alternative explanation for the health care bill, "cap and trade," the intent to spend returned TARP funds and interest rather than reduce the deficit and the unsustainable runup of annual deficits as far as the eye can see, all of which Mr. Obama endorsed either directly or tacitly in his SOTU speech.
